Cleary University Marketing Season 1 Episode 6

In this unforgettable episode, hosts Lonnie Pries and Kylie Walker sit down with two Cleary fan favorites—Emma Smith and Basile Malempre—for a wildly entertaining ride through college life, friendship, culture clashes, country music confessions, and one seriously competitive beer showdown.

Hello, everybody's uncaged. We got Kylie Walker, Lonnie priest, the denduards. Keep it going. Keep it going. And today our special guest, Emma Smith, Basil model, right? Did I get it right? Awesome. Welcome to cougars. Uncaged. We are pumped to have you guys here. Are you ready to do this? I should have told you to just make sure you get you don't have to get up on the mic. But yeah, there you go. You guys are ready. So ready, aren't you? All right, we are going to get to know you a little bit. Okay, we'll start with you ladies. First, Emma, tell us about yourself, like, what year you're at? Cleary, what do you do? And really, we'd love to know, how did you end up coming to Cleary,

Emma Smith  0:45
yeah, so I am a senior this year. I'm majoring in Human Resources and digital marketing. I'm double majoring, and my Nana and poppy live in Howell. So as soon as I was looking at colleges, I was like, I want to move out to Howell. And, you know, get to know the area. I work three jobs right now. So, yeah, I've worked for Cleary all four years I've been here. I do horseback riding in Milford as well, and I train horses there too. And then I also work at an orthodontic office in Howell.

Lonnie Preis  1:20
That's impressive, awesome. And so are you? Do you stay on camera? You say, I love what your names are, Nana, Nana and Poppy, yeah, Nana and Poppy, Nana and Poppy. I love it. I love it. So you get to see them all the time. That is so cool. Yeah, so cool. But see, how about you? What? Tell us about yourself and how you came to

Basile Malempre  1:40
clearing, yeah. So my name is Brazil. I'm a senior as well at Cleary here. My major is Business Management. I'm from Belgium, so it was very different for me. Obviously, my grandparents were living in the area, yeah. So I worked as an agency. They like help athletes finding schools in the US. So I had like, a lot of offers all the way in the US. And I had like, you know, meetings with the coaches and everything. And I love clear about the fact that it was like a small school, small community and everything. And I wanted to do business as well, as long as golf. So I just, I just wanted to have something small that, you know, you know, just a member, clearly, like an actual person. So because I didn't speak English when I came here, so it was like, wow, I had to, like,

Lonnie Preis  2:21
adapt myself. You know, your English is great. I mean, if you did not,

Basile Malempre  2:25
yeah. I mean, I met Emma when

Emma Smith  2:26
we were freshmen. Actually, I would sit there and write his papers for him, like he would tell me what he wanted to say, and his keyboard was actually all different, like, the letters are all different. So I would sit there and type. We would both be sitting in our dorm rooms, like doing homework together. And I was like, This is crazy that I'm meeting someone, and we became really good friends after that.

Lonnie Preis  2:47
That is so impressive. That is so I would never would have guessed that if you told me, If you told me that you didn't speak English till what, four years ago, whatever, I'd be like, No way. I thought, wow, that's cool. That's cool. All right, a little bit more. You kind of alluded to this basil. But what do you you can answer this in two ways, either one, what do you love most about Cleary or who has impacted you the most since you've been here? Or you can answer both. But what do you think about

Basile Malempre  3:14
that kind of both at the same time? I would say people for sure. You know, the staff, the professors and everything, the person who impacted me the most seriously was Andrew trembling. He's like a professor I had in my freshman years, my first class ever here, and then he's also like the therapist and counselor. I think he's helping a lot of people on campus. He helped me myself when you go through something, he's there with, like, no judgment ever. And he's just such a good human being.

Lonnie Preis  3:38
Yeah, I know. I mean, he we work on a couple teams here together, and he's phenomenal. I mean, just always ready, you know, always there for you. Love, love to hear that. Okay, how about you,

Emma Smith  3:50
Emma, I would say, like the athletics really brought me, well, when I first came here, I love the small school aspect, like my sister went to Michigan State, and so I was always hearing stories about how crazy it is, and, you know, there's all these things. So I was like, I want to go somewhere small. I want to know my professors. I don't want to know my classmates. And I really think that helped me become more of a woman that I am now than anything like when I first came here. I was totally different than who I am now, and I can't be more proud of myself for that. But with the athletics, since I've been working for them for so long, I would say like Max and hoogs, everyone like that. Like has really impacted me. I started out there weren't that many girls that worked in athletics, and so it's really interesting to be able to work with all these athletes, like baseball, softball, hockey, like I was the go to person for the media and or the music and scoreboard and everything like that. So it was really cool to kind of get, like, my feet in the door and get to know all these athletes and where they come from. I mean, like me and Brazil, like you, meet so many people that are. International students, and it's really a blessing to get to know, like, where they come from, what their family life is like, like, that was amazing in itself. So that's what I would say.

Lonnie Preis  5:09
That's awesome. That's awesome to hear. All right, one more question about Cleary. This this little bit tougher. What is the specific spot, your favorite specific spot on campus?

Basile Malempre  5:19
I would say mine is the Wellness Center, okay? Because there's, like, the gym, the basketball court and the golf simulators. I just love sports in general. So I go, you know, hit the gym, and then I go, like, cool down, shoot some hoops with some comments. You just hang out with golf

Lonnie Preis  5:35
simulation. So the whole is there one specific spot, like, if you had to choose of all those things to do in the Wellness Center, why the golf simulator? Golf simulator, which is very, very nice. All right, you can't do the same thing. Okay, I

Emma Smith  5:48
do. I do agree with him. I think that the Wellness Center is, like, super amazing, and we have the athletic trainers in there who have done an amazing job with me since I've gotten here as well. But I would have to say the dorms, we were just sitting in the car, like, right before we came and we were, like, looking at the dorms, and we're like, that was, like, used to be our thing. Like, we used to sit there and we would all hang out, like we didn't even know the freshmen or the sophomores or the upperclassmen, but like, everyone came out, we would play Euchre. We would have little, you know, Hangouts and all that stuff in there. So it's just interesting, like, now that we're off campus, it's like, what are they doing now? Like, what's going on in there? Like, what you know, what do they do for fun now that I feel like we were, like, all friends, that's how we all became. You just walk out your door and you see so many people, you know, playing ping pong or whatever. So I would say I miss the dorms a little bit now that I'm off campus. Does

Lonnie Preis  6:42
it? Does it seem like another like, Does it seem like a long time ago? Is it one of those things where it seems like another lifetime ago? For you guys, it's so it's

Emma Smith  6:49
weird, and now I feel old, like I see all these, like, other classmates and stuff, and I'm like, Who are you? Like, I used to know everybody at Cleary, and now I'm like, I don't know anyone. Like, it's so weird. But that really the dorms is what probably brought

Lonnie Preis  7:04
us all together the most. Yeah, that is so cool. That is, that is awesome. I love just different spots and different people. That's, that's, I

Kylie Walker  7:10
have to say, too, even from like, last year to this year. Like, the difference in, like, the people that would come by my office all the time, like, now it is the freshmen and like, because it used to be these guys right here. They come by my office, but now that they live off campus, they never come to visit me anymore. But no, like, just even in a year, like it feels like they're, like, mostly gone.

Lonnie Preis  7:30
Yeah, yeah. It's, it's, it goes so fast, yet it seems like so long ago, which a lot of people mentioned. Okay, thank you guys so much for sharing a little bit about your experience here at Cleary, so we have a new segment. It's called Hot takes. We talked about this a little bit before we are going to dive into the tremendous world of country music. Just want to get your thoughts on country music, Emma, we'll start with you and just tell us. Tell us your thoughts, your feelings, your heart, about country music.

Emma Smith  7:58
Yeah, so country music is not something I was raised on at all. So when I kind of moved out, right around the time I started college, I got myself into the Horace world, the country world. And I mean, country music is probably what saves me the most out of any genre, like it's deep, and it really gets, like into your feelings. And I love going to concerts. I'm a big concert person, and I just think it's amazing. I don't know, that's all I listen to it.

Lonnie Preis  8:28
I will say it's great live. What's your best concert you've

Emma Smith  8:33
been to? I don't know, but the one person I am dying to see is Chris Stapleton.

Lonnie Preis  8:38
I like I hear you. I've heard it's, he's phenomenal, yeah, I mean, he is already, but in live, it's in person, it's great. But seal country music, how does it touch

Basile Malempre  8:50
you? It doesn't touch me. It's just something that, you know, I'm from Europe. I don't

Basile Malempre  8:56
think there's any country in Europe at all. Well, I speak French, and any, I don't think there's any French country. So it's also, like a weird thing for me to be like, Well, I love,

Emma Smith  9:06
mind you, every time I would get in the car with the zeal, would be

Lonnie Preis  9:10
like, I love like, no, that's my wife all day.

Basile Malempre  9:13
I love that. Like, I went to Tomorrowland, and it's like the biggest festival, like, about, like, DJs and everything. Like I saw like, David get a Swedish House Mafia, like, those, like, big names about, like house and, like, techno and stuff like that. And I just love it, just like, I don't know. It's just so peaceful, like, even if it goes, boom, boom, it's just like, it's just like, I don't know, I love it. And I'm not, I'm not a big country guy. I tried, I'm I went to a concert. It's not bad. I'm not gonna, you know, say it's terrible, but like, it's not my

Lonnie Preis  9:45
first choice feature. It didn't. What didn't it do for you? It did. I just

Basile Malempre  9:50
never had something like, I never had the feeling of like, Oh, I love that, you know? I mean,

Emma Smith  9:55
for me, it's like, when I'm crying, when I'm happy, everything, it's just like, gotta be. Be in me, you know, like, real loud. Like, our freshman year, he lived with two guys from California on the other side of his dorm. Like they were suitemates, and they were one of them. Like, all we did was listen to music, songs that came out, Zach Bryan, like, that's what our thing was. And then you hear Brazil on the other side, and it's just constant,

Basile Malempre  10:24
like, I don't know even, like, the way they, they dress and everything. I don't see myself in boots and a cowboy, yeah,

Emma Smith  10:31
get this. Brazil went to see Luke Bryan, like, when he came to howl, and he's like, over at my apartment, we're talking and he's like, I asked him. I was like, what are you gonna wear? Because all Brazil, Brazil's got a good style about him. He's always in his little sweaters and jeans and his cute little shoes. And I was like, There's no way I could ever see Brazil wearing cowboy boots or jeans of any sort, and a button up, like, that's not him. And he's like, Oh, I'm just gonna wear, you know, my usual outfit. And I'm like, oh, here we go.

Lonnie Preis  11:03
You didn't get a boot, so no boots.

Basile Malempre  11:05
I had no boots. I just have shoes, and they're pretty dirty after the concert. Because

Emma Smith  11:09
it was like, that's what boots are for. Yeah. I mean, it's all right. I just,

Basile Malempre  11:14
I asked around for, like, a bot or not, but whatever. But I just put t shirt and jeans, and I was

Lonnie Preis  11:19
fine, all right, one, one thing to wrap up here, just to plant this seed, because obviously, you know, you two make a good team. You heard it here first. You could be the first French country artist. I don't know what your musical skill, but if you haven't seen one, why not be the first?

Basile Malempre  11:36
Well, I could try. I don't think my singing is the best something

Emma Smith  11:39
for us. No, I'm good, can you sing? Mind you? Before he went, he's like, I don't know a single Luke Bryan song. And I'm like, why are you happening right now?

Lonnie Preis  11:53
The experience you're here, you want to try new things. And have you gone? Have you gone to the club? Oh, the way you did this. I'm like, you've been to the club. It's

Emma Smith  12:02
like, Jersey Shore. I am Snooky in a different life. That would be me. It's

Lonnie Preis  12:07
kind of scary. It

Speaker 1  12:09
keeps getting higher. That's the signature move. That's the move. Yeah, Kylie, the front kick.

Lonnie Preis  12:16
What's that? Yes, the frat please. No idea what's going on. Okay, this is great. This was, I love it. This is a great discussion. Okay, now we're gonna, we're gonna get a little more serious. This is a segment called behind the curtain. Oh, so we're gonna get behind the curtain of your mind. We'll see, okay, little bit a chance gets a little bit more know, a little bit more about you, not about clear, but just about you guys. So if you could, I think we let you know these questions ahead of time. We'll see. We'll start with you, Emma again, if you could meet anybody in the world who you have not met before, who would it be and when you meet them, what would be the first question you asked them?

Emma Smith  12:57
So I did not review these questions

Kylie Walker  13:00
perfect. Means you did not read my email.

Lonnie Preis  13:02
That's exactly what we like to hear. That's good.

Emma Smith  13:04
I'm gonna have to go with like Zach top. Okay, I don't know if you guys know who that is. Okay? I don't. I, of course, you don't a country, but

Lonnie Preis  13:14
I feel like there's a lot of country artist named Zach I really want

Emma Smith  13:18
to get one of those shirts that says Zach top, and it's the top that's okay. But I feel like he's just like, young and kind of like, I don't know, I just like his like vibe, I guess. And I also want to go see him really bad. If not him, I would say Chris Stapleton. I feel like Chris stapleton's Got to have a lot of like, oh, just like, advice, yeah, life, and he's got that big beard. Like, wisdom is, all he gives is just, like, straight wisdom,

Kylie Walker  13:46
wisdom vibe. So I gotta jump in real quick, big beard, wisdom act. This summer I met Jordan Davis, and this guy just speaks wisdom.

Lonnie Preis  13:55
See, love it. Love it. What would you ask either one of those guys?

Emma Smith  14:01
Um, I don't know. I feel like I just want to know, like, the normal things about them, not so much, like, about where, you know, like, what the life is, like, being a crazy music singer and all that stuff. Like, I want to know more about, like, where they grew up, what they did growing up, and kind of what the songs, I guess are based on, I think that's like,

Lonnie Preis  14:22
love it. I don't know. That's great. That's great. Yeah, I love the famous people. Let's find out about the normal What do you do normally? You know? What cereal do you eat in the morning? What do you know? Stuff like that. All right, basil, who would you like to meet, and what would you ask them?

Basile Malempre  14:35
I would love to meet Stephen Curry. He's my favorite basketball player since I'm young. I've always been a big basketball fan, and I went to see him my freshman year in Detroit. He was Detroit was playing Golden State, and I paid a lot of money to see him because I'm a big fan of him.

Emma Smith  14:53
Are you guys like, the same height? No,

Lonnie Preis  14:55
he's pretty tall. Oh, I thought he was short for some reason. He's probably short in the NBA. Is, but he's still, he's probably six, three or something, yeah,

Basile Malempre  15:05
and so he's just such a, like, humble guy. And like, he like, changed basketball. And the question I would ask him is, like, how is he that, like, humble, humble, and like, he's got so much confidence, even when everyone doubt him. Like, in 2022 he was like, 35 already, and he brought back the fact, like the chip. And I'm like, how did he do it? Like everyone, like no one would ever put any money in Golden State to win at that time, like his, speak, was just like, probably starting getting there, like 27 like nobody ever thought about him before, and he just totally changed the game. And, yeah, it's, like, super impressive. How do you have so much confidence and, you know, faith in you, and like, yeah, in life, to be like, I'm gonna do

Lonnie Preis  15:47
it. Yeah, yeah. He's, I mean, to hear him speak, I've heard some interviews, phenomenal. He's probably, I mean, many people say LeBron Jordan, one of those are two of the best, but the best shooter, oh, he's the best guard, best shooter ever. Yeah, it's kind of cool. I say that. So second question, about the people you want to meet, if you then had a couple hours to hang with them, it can't be basketball, it can't be playing or listening to country music. What would you do? We'll start with you, basil. What would you do if you had a couple hours to hang with Steve?

Basile Malempre  16:19
The easiest question, oh, I know what you're gonna say. I'm gonna play golf. Yeah, I would love to just do a match play with him and see if I can leave him. That would be

Lonnie Preis  16:27
awesome. Did you see the little thing he had on TV, the little mini golf? Yeah, that's

Basile Malempre  16:31
kind of and he just did a new episode. And Bryson the YouTube broke break 50. Oh, okay, did break 50? Which is crazy. He's a crazy golfer. He's insane. He's actually like, so good. So I would just play a round of golf with him and talk

Lonnie Preis  16:46
about it. It's funny. You mentioned what you notice about him, with his mindset and his confidence, I feel like, in golf, I'm not good at golf, but I feel like it's such a mental game. Yeah, it's probably why curry is so good, and because he can, you know, he just got this great mental, as mental approach?

Kylie Walker  17:01
Yeah, I think Golf has to be one of the toughest, like, mental ones, because it's just you against yourself every day.

Basile Malempre  17:07
It is absolutely you have to, like, stay calm the whole time.

Emma Smith  17:11
I can't even tell you how many times my coach has walked up to me and I'm just sobbing for no reason. Like, it's just like, come on, Emma, what are we doing? Like, have a good last year, you know, but golf's mental, yeah,

Lonnie Preis  17:24
but I'm sure it's, it's made you so tough and help you. I'm sure there's so many things you can apply to your life, from what you learned on the golf course, all right, Emma, you got a couple hours with Zach or Chris. What would you

Emma Smith  17:36
do? I would probably have them take me to any like, hometown bar, like, kind of get the feel of, like the real because, like, here in Michigan, like we have, like, really, no, like, cool dive bars. And I love a good dive bar. So I would say, take me to, like, some place that you went when you were, like, my age, and you were kind of, like feeling out the vibes of everything. Like, I want to go to, like, a real down south dive bar. Love it. Kind of like, gross, kind of like, Yeah, but like, I think it'd be fun. All

Lonnie Preis  18:09
right. All right. I like it. All right. Now, a little bit more personal, even anybody from your past, or think of one person from your past that could be still alive or could be passed away, but one person from your past that has impacted you, okay, and and then, if you want to share you know, how have they impacted you in a good way? So

Basile Malempre  18:33
I can go first, I would say my parents. It's hard to choose pick between my mom and my dad. So I just do a package, if it's okay, yeah, it's just the fact that I just own on them so much of, like, the values they taught me since I'm young, like, and the fact that they've always been supportive. So, like, no matter what I've done, you know, I I was 17 when I came here and I told them I was 16 when I started my project of coming in the US, and they let me chase my dream, and being like, well, you can go 5000 miles away from us, and we support you, and we be there for you no matter what, and all we want is you to be happy and like, when I have a breakdown, mentor you, whatever. And I have to, like, call them, because I don't see I see them once a year. So it's like, you know, not always easy, but like, I have them on FaceTime and everything, and they always support it, like, support me. They just like, super excited about everything I do. I send them pictures. They just like, almost as happy as I am. And it's just like, insane to me, how it's like, they like, put so much in their time, into me and being like, we like, proud of you. And like, there's nothing better than your parents saying you proud. Like, they're proud of you. So, oh

Lonnie Preis  19:41
yeah. So, so cool to hear that. Have you do a home? Have you

Basile Malempre  19:45
been able to go home every summer? I just go home during

Lonnie Preis  19:49
the summer. How about the how about Christmas? Huh?

Basile Malempre  19:52
The plane ticket is so expensive Christmas so, well, I know it's not like, a big deal, but like, I usually just like, go. So. Were doing Christmas, either with a friend or family, sure, you know something or like, I travel in the US. I went to Miami or California or whatever. So it's

Lonnie Preis  20:07
really cool. Yeah, you're doing Miami, California. Those are good spots. Yeah, plenty of nice warm weather. Awesome. Emma, how about you? Mine would

Emma Smith  20:19
probably have to be my Poppy. He is still with us, but he's had a couple, like, rough last years, and I just think I admire him more than I ever have in my life. Growing up, he was always kind of that, like, tough, very manly. He served in the Marines for a very long time. Worked at Ford. He did lots of tours during Vietnam, just like, really, like a man's man in my eyes, and always puts family first. Like, no matter what I've ever needed in my life, he was there, like, phone call away, making sure I'm good. Like, this past summer, I actually moved in with them to stay out here for work. And I thought, you know, at first, okay, this is kind of embarrassing. Like, I'm moving with my grandma. Moving with my grandparents, like I'm in college and I'm living with my grandpa. But no, it was seriously such a blessing. Like the time and everything met up perfectly to where, like, I was there for when they needed me. And, like, just small things, grocery shopping, cutting grass, everything like that. But he just, like, is such a just down to earth person and tries so hard to just be there for you, even though he doesn't show it. You know, it's very straight faced all the time, but when you like, crack into him, it's like, you are such a blessing in my life. And that's all I can that's all I can say. I don't, I don't know what I would do without him.

Lonnie Preis  21:38
So what you guys shared is amazing. Make sure, if I know we have millions of people, I'm sure they're gonna listen to this, but make sure your parents and your Poppy, make sure your family,

Basile Malempre  21:47
my my parents do not speak English. I'm gonna have to translate it.

Kylie Walker  21:54
You'll figure it out beyond FaceTime translating it. We got it Emma as somebody.

Lonnie Preis  22:00
Now, I don't have grandkids yet, but somebody with our adult kids. I mean, you're, you're Poppy and Nana. I mean, they had to love having you there. Yeah, I'm sure they said it. But even, I mean, that would just be like a blessing, yeah, for them too. I mean, anyways, thank you guys for sharing this

Kylie Walker  22:18
idea. Yes, you should leave a message for them in French, they can

Basile Malempre  22:24
understand when they listen. That's great. Oh yeah, go ahead.

Lonnie Preis  22:32
Got it, boom. You guys love it. Later. Okay, I like it. I like it. All right, next, next. We're going into something called Rapid Fire. No, you do not get these questions ahead of time. These are, like, quick answers. We're gonna try and go quick back and forth so you both get the same question. You know, obviously you'll go first, then here, then we'll start there. Okay, first one advice for freshmen,

Emma Smith  22:58
have fun. It goes by very quickly, like everyone will tell you to be, you know, a good freshman, do whatever you want, because it goes so fast. Like, I lived three years in the dorms, and just like that, I'm out in an apartment. Don't talk to anyone, barely so have fun and just really get to know people, because these are your connections for the majority of your life. Now, like high school did not matter, realistically, like you might still hang out with them, but your college friends are going to be there forever.

Lonnie Preis  23:30

Emma Smith  24:22
I really like the new they have the update, and it's like, they'll really like, what's like this, like really tired eyes. I don't know if you I want to show you guys, because it makes perfect sense for like, I'm exhausted, I literally respond to everything, which is just like the sad like

Basile Malempre  24:39
you have to show us when we're done. I like it, the one that covers your eye, but, like, let through. Okay. It's like, I love like, sarcasm or something. You make a joke, or you say something kind of serious, but like you're joking about it. So you just, like, put that one. I love it. I've seen that from

Lonnie Preis  24:53
Brazil. I love it. What's one thing you can't live without? A country music. I'm just kidding.

Basile Malempre  25:05
I would say music, actually,

Lonnie Preis  25:07
music, okay.

Emma Smith  25:08
I would say family, family. Okay, I know that's original.

Lonnie Preis  25:13
What's one thing you're proud of

Emma Smith  25:15
myself? Okay? Myself, all right.

Lonnie Preis  25:20
Favorite, favorite way to if you have free time, what's your not golf? What's your favorite way to spend a Sunday or a free day?

Unknown Speaker  25:29
Um,

Basile Malempre  25:30
go watch a sports event and anything with friends and hang out? Okay?

Emma Smith  25:38
Emma, mine would be riding a very fun horse possibly getting bucked off a little, heck yeah, I'm down for

Lonnie Preis  25:44
it. Like, off completely. Yeah. Have you been injured? Yes, how bad?

Kylie Walker  25:48
Yeah, last year she had a bruise, like, the size of her entire leg.

Emma Smith  25:52
I got kicked, like, in a stall, and it just flown me back. But I actually have like, some like damage still to my leg doesn't feel

Lonnie Preis  26:01
right. Sorry, we're off the tracks here. But I gotta ask you've gone horseback riding with her, right? What? Look at me. That's gotta happen. That's gotta happen. Emma, nobody ever wants to go with me, and I'll go with you. But also he can't go

Unknown Speaker  26:14
till he gets boots on

Lonnie Preis  26:16
air. Thank you on air. Before the end of the school year, this academic year, Basil is going to get on a horse. Y'all, we're

Emma Smith  26:24

Lonnie Preis  26:29
We're new horizons. Our guests are going into new horizons. All right, I'm on a fun horse. We got we got four more. Your biggest fear

Basile Malempre  26:40
not do everything I always wanted to do,

Lonnie Preis  26:43
having some regrets. Okay, having some regrets,

Emma Smith  26:46
mine would probably be overthinking everything. Like, I feel like all I used to do was overthink, and I'm like, why it makes me who I am. Like, it brought me here. I like, here I am. I just got to stop doing that, and I'm afraid that I'm gonna let it continue to happen.

Lonnie Preis  27:02
Okay, well, if you're aware of it, it's good, because then you probably stop. Yep, little bit, little bit different type of question. We have three more. Weirdest thing you've ever eaten.

Emma Smith  27:12
I just tried sushi for the other day. You like it first time? I don't know. I don't know. I wish it was more like scrumptious, and I'm

Lonnie Preis  27:21
guessing, all right, not, not worth the money. Maybe we

Basile Malempre  27:28
should have hot take sushi. I know we're crickets. There's like, grilled insects. I tried it for the first time, and it might be crazy. It's actually not bad. It just

Speaker 2  27:37
tastes like chips. Was it? Were they, like, the flavored ones that are like, crunchy?

Basile Malempre  27:41
Yeah, yeah. I tried once, and I was actually not. It was the weirdest thing. I tried,

Lonnie Preis  27:46
okay, your biggest pet peeve,

Basile Malempre  27:54
just not try something and say you don't like it, or like,

Lonnie Preis  27:59
oh, so without like, Yeah, you never listen to country music, like country

Basile Malempre  28:03
movie, like, never tried or like, never love it. That's a

Lonnie Preis  28:07
good one. Emma

Emma Smith  28:08
might not be. When people chew really loud, it drives me up the wall. Like, I

Lonnie Preis  28:16
hate it. Do you ever have people chew? Do you ever get mad at people that chew with their mouth closed, but it's still loud. That's the actually, the worst. That's what my i My wife is not happy when I I feel like move away, because I think it's like the mix of saliva, and it's luck we're done. We have officially, that is what we're talking about, identifying. So y'all out there, be careful, respect her space. Okay, last one in only three words. Describe yourself, three words.

Basile Malempre  28:53
Oh, ambitious, positive and happy.

Emma Smith  29:02
Love it. I would say cheerful. Sometimes don't count that word, ambitious is a good one. And thoughtful, very

Lonnie Preis  29:15
good. I love it because so many we have guests on here that know each other really well. And many times when people are saying the three words. The other person is like, you were like, yep, yep, you know. And they can,

Emma Smith  29:27
I think those all give his little good. That would be my three words for him.

Lonnie Preis  29:31
Too good. Love it. Love it. All right, we got one more segment. Your athletes. Here, you're competitive. This is a segment called Showtime. Show us what you know we talked beforehand, and we have the topic of beer.

Basile Malempre  29:47

You go back. You have three seconds to say another type of beer. We'll go back and forth. If somebody repeats a beer, you lose. If somebody goes more than three seconds, whatever. I'll be honest, there's been one of our guests I think that have really probably done well at this because you might think, Oh, I know a bunch. I know a bunch of this or that. And then it you get under the lights, you get under the bright lights, and we'll see, we'll see what you have to say. Loosen them up. Loosen them up. All right. We'll see what they know On your mark.
