Then we are going to pound this table, and then just keep pounding, and I'm going to yell over the top of the pounding, and then welcome you. And then going to make you all start talking to us all. Oh, here we go.
Lonnie Preis 0:09
Three. Start the pound. Come on. Hello everybody. We are back and better than ever. Rogers on cage the dead dwellers, Kylie Walker, body priest, and we are here with Courtney wing Brett Owens, welcome.
Lonnie Preis 0:25
How are you doing? Doing good? Hey. What about you good? Your microphone fell. I'm sweating already. Oh my gosh, that was the longest pound intro that we've we've had. It's great to have you guys here. Thank you. No one knows, no one knows, out in our 1000s of audience that we're actually delayed. We have a delay taping today. I'm sure it's gonna come up why we were a little delayed, but we'll get to that later. Kylie, how are you feeling about today's guests?
Kylie Walker 0:50
Um, good. I just wish someone knew how to show up on time, but it's all
Lonnie Preis 0:53
right, yeah, well, we'll take care of that. All right. We're not gonna say any names. It might come out. It might come out, and maybe people out in the audience can put a little wager on which one of these guests or myself or which one of us were late, it may come out later. All right, back to what's important, which is you guys so great that you're here, we'd love to get to know a little bit about you. So Courtney, ladies, first, we're gonna start with you. Tell us what year you are here, what you're involved with, what you study.
Courtney 1:19
We'll start there. Cool. I'm Courtney. I am a junior. I'm studying digital marketing, corporate finance. I'm on the cell phone bowling team, and I'm also the salt president.
Lonnie Preis 1:29
Very good, very good. Bryce,
Bryce 1:31
all right, I'm Bryce. I'm also a junior. I'm also on the bowling team. I'm studying sport promotion and management. I want to be an athletic director. And I'm also in salt.
Lonnie Preis 1:41
Love it. Love it. Salt, for all of you that know, don't know, student athlete, leadership team is what that acronym stands for.
Kylie Walker 1:49
Kylie, also, I want to say you're both captains of Bowling Green, correct?
Lonnie Preis 1:54
Oh, Captain, My Captain. What's speaking of that? We've never had two captains on here. What? What's something unique that you have to do as captains? Do they, like, have to, like, salute you. Do they have to, like, bring you stuff. What's your, I'm just kidding, what? What's your?
Bryce 2:10
A lot of yelling at people, but not a lot of, like, making sure the team's kind of under control. Yeah, not really too many decisions you make, besides, you know, like, jerseys and stuff like that, but just make sure the teams under control and listening to everything. Okay, nagging
Courtney 2:25
at the small stuff.
Lonnie Preis 2:30
I saw the video of the 300 Baker game in a situation like that. Do you have to keep them all under control so they don't just jump all over the lanes and not that kind of control you're talking Okay, that's good. Yeah, get hyped. Okay, all right, good. Okay, little bit about what brought you here, what brought you two questions, what brought you here to Cleary and then, who has been the most impactful influence or person on you since you've been here?
Courtney 2:57
For me, why I came here was the coaches. I mean, I love Haley and Anthony and then coach Lobdell, but in the schooling, I love the schooling here, but honestly, like, who keeps me here are the coaches? Like, that's why I want to be here. They feel like parents to me at this point,
Lonnie Preis 3:11
awesome. Love it. Yeah, I'm just
Bryce 3:12
talking pretty original with these answers also. But I feel like the coaches helped me out a lot when you know they were recruiting me and stuff. I was recruited actually before Haley, but once she started recruiting me, I it even excelled me to go here even more. And then once I came here, they got me okay to stay forever.
Lonnie Preis 3:28
So awesome. I love it. Love it. What's the number one? And besides coaches and the impact they've had, what's the thing you love most about Cleary,
Courtney 3:39
the flexibility of like schooling, like having the assignments doing Sunday, but just like how your academic advisors, like work around your schedule and stuff. Like being a dual athlete, it's kind of hard. It's like they kind of make it work so that you can do other things too good.
Bryce 3:53
I like the kind of the smaller school, like, atmosphere, you know, you know, everybody, not too much. There's still drama here and there, but not too much drama, yeah, but yeah, that's just the best thing. Everybody knows everybody, and you can always have fun.
Lonnie Preis 4:05
So good, good. All right, one more question about Cleary is a little unique, or you might have to think for a minute, what's your favorite very specific spot on this campus, not, not it has to be somewhere within the within the campus. What's your favorite spot?
Courtney 4:21
Lake trust, you gotta go with it. Okay, where?
Lonnie Preis 4:23
Tell me specific. Many people say like trust, but I'm curious, like, is there a specific spot you'd love? I don't
Courtney 4:33
know. There's so many bad parts in good parts. What's a good spirit of being like during games. I love the dugout and being out on the field, like being at third base. I love just being in that atmosphere of, like, looking around and it's kind of just like a big open space that you get to, like, enjoy. But yeah, that's great.
Lonnie Preis 4:52
We've had some people on here that said, Actually specific, like, watching you guys play specific spot in the bleachers. Like somebody said. Their specific seat, maybe seat number. I believe that they love so that's, that's cool. How about you?
Bryce 5:05
Bryce, I'm gonna say, if you know, you know 304
Lonnie Preis 5:12
is this tattooed somewhere? You sound very
Bryce 5:14
matching tattoos. About it soon.
Lonnie Preis 5:17
So I imagine 304 would be your room. That's a good guess. That's Is it a great is it a correct? Okay, 304 Kylie, that's where. That's where. It's uh,
Speaker 1 5:29
that's Oh. I've heard plenty about 304 okay,
Lonnie Preis 5:32
maybe that's why sometimes people are delayed getting where, getting places, because of what goes on in three or four. I don't know who Right? Right, exactly. Okay, thank you guys so much. We are now getting into what you've been waiting for, Bryce, because you don't know what's coming. Courtney does. This is called our hot take section segment, and we're going to debate something for a couple minutes. And we know you guys know each other really well. So here's the topic, okay, what is the best time to wake up? Kind of twofold. What's the best time to wake up during the day? And then also, what's your best method of waking up? You know, Courtney, why don't you, why don't you share with us what your thoughts are with that,
Courtney 6:11
okay, best time to wake up, like on a normal day, like you have stuff going like, nine o'clock, 839 o'clock, ish, okay.
Bryce 6:20
Bryce, I would say about noon. I think noon is a great time. Are going to method sales also, right now time.
Lonnie Preis 6:27
Let's go time. Right now for a second. I noon. Why I go back to you? Why Noon? Noon? You know,
Bryce 6:33
you got to have fun the night before. Whatever you do, like going to the Red Wings game. You know, I feel like that that took time like midnight, because we had to go to someone else's house and then go out to eat. I'm gonna blame it all on Kylie.
Lonnie Preis 6:44
So wait, blame don't blame it.
Kylie Walker 6:48
No, no, because I'm about to jump in. So you're gonna blame me on the reason that someone might show up late the next morning.
Bryce 6:57
Well, like I guess I'm blaming on you, but it's a good thing, you know, because you're gonna have fun in the morning or the night before, so you were the one that that caused the fun the night before at the red women's game. So I'll take it as a compliment.
Lonnie Preis 7:09
So in a way, yeah, you're we're not talking blame here, especially if you're passionate about noon. Thank you. He wants to say Kylie for keeping me up that late. Why not? Why is nine or 830 important? Why do you think that's a that's the right time I
Courtney 7:22
got to get stuff done during the day, waking up doesn't let me get anything done. Okay, I don't have enough time in the day.
Lonnie Preis 7:29
Good point. Let's get down to the specifics here. But whether you whether you ideally want to wake up till noon or 839, whatever, typically, you know college students, you have things that you're scheduled for at certain times with other individuals besides yourself, which may impact their lives if you don't show up on time. Just a hypothetical. Just a hypothetical. So what would be the good method? In this case, Courtney, what's a good method to wake up at the time that you have to not necessarily want to? What's a good what are some good methods there?
Courtney 8:00
So if I, like, have to be up, like, there's no if ands or buts, I have a certain like alarm sound that, like, freaks me out when I wake up. So I'll set like that alarm sound, I know I'm waking up.
Lonnie Preis 8:10
Love it. What can you? Can you? Can we hear what it is? Oh, no, no, I know you. Can you
Courtney 8:15
do it? No, it's like, it's like, terrifying. I can't even, is it like an animal? No, it's like a, like an alarm clock, kind of, but it's like blaring like,
Speaker 1 8:25
is it the fire alarm?
Courtney 8:27
No, in my apartment, yeah, it could be. I set off the fire
Lonnie Preis 8:31
alarm at least four times a day. Oh, with what? What are you? What are you doing in there? I have an air fryer.
Courtney 8:36
I don't know what I it goes off every time. My neighbors probably hate me. Okay, okay, yeah, it's like a blaring alarm sound.
Lonnie Preis 8:43
Well, that's, that's a good method. What do you tend to use
Bryce 8:47
back at home, we call this game called Chicken. So basically, you just, like, you sleep, and then you just try to, you try to wake up on time. So if you have 830 class, class, you try to wake up on time. It's just chicken. Why do they call it chicken? Because if you sleep at, like, sleep past, you're the chick, like you're a chicken, you're a chicken. Yeah.
Lonnie Preis 9:07
Well played. Well played. Any we'll stop giving you a hard time. In all honesty. In all honesty. Obviously, there's times when you, let's say you're leaving for a bowling you're not going to miss a bus. What method do you use for all those younger freshmen out there listening that are having a continual issue getting up on time? What's your best method?
Bryce 9:30
I would say the good one is the alarm clock across the room. Get up and turn it off. That's the one I would do on a Bowling Tournament if I needed to actually wake up and because you got to get up and actually go turn alarm off, and at that point you're not you point, you're not going back to bed.
Lonnie Preis 9:44
So, so the good news is that you hear an alarm, it's gonna wake you up. There's, do you have alarms that do not wake you up? Yeah?
Courtney 9:50
Like, if it's like, I don't really need to be up, I'll just set like, my everyday one maybe.
Lonnie Preis 9:56
Yeah, okay, all right, good. That was a little. Different take on hot takes. We want to give you a hard time. Bryce, obviously, if anybody, if anybody had a wager going, you might have an idea, but that's okay. We weren't that delayed. It's good. It fed in well to what we're doing. All right. Next segment is called behind the curtain. Now they were sent emails. I Sorry. They were sending emails on what was going to be asked in this segment, getting to know them a little bit better. And audience, if you'd like to put another wage, we do not promote betting. But if you are wanting you know kind of guests or whatever, one of the guests might have read this email and is prepared the other one might not have. So we'll let you be the judge. We'll see what was okay. So here's the question. First question, don't be reading this paper. Don't be trying to read my paper. I'm just kidding if you kidding. If you could meet, if you need anybody on this planet who you've not met yet, who would you Who do you want to meet?
Bryce 10:54
Let me go first. Yeah, yeah. Probably. Jeff Bezos, nice.
Lonnie Preis 11:00
Let me follow up with that, because we have three questions about this. Jeff Bezos walks in the door. What's the first question you ask him?
Bryce 11:07
I would ask him, if I took our money away today, what would you do to get back to where you're at?
Courtney 11:14
Oh, deep. I don't even know if I can
Lonnie Preis 11:18
follow the audience there right now is making a wager on who read the email and who didn't that's, I love it. I love it. Who would you like to meet? She
Bryce 11:29
was prepared, by the way,
Lonnie Preis 11:32
here's the banter we like.
Speaker 1 11:35
Yes, the person that read the email is the one that's
Courtney 11:37
struggling a little bit. Yeah, I don't know, like plenty of people, and just like, what are we doing?
Lonnie Preis 11:43
Famous, famous singer, like somebody you listen to, or you haven't met, or famous athlete,
Courtney 11:49
Tyler, The Creator. Oh, okay,
Lonnie Preis 11:51
what would you ask Tyler? What
Courtney 11:56
did you put in the sticky to make Cliff listen to it so many times?
Lonnie Preis 12:01
That is a unique one. That's a great one. All right, here's the next question with it. You get to hang with them for a couple hours. Okay? And I don't know exactly know what both of them do for a living, but you can't do what they do for a living. I mean, I know Bezos does a variety of things. What would you do with them for a couple hours?
Bryce 12:24
I'd probably just go to a day in the life with them, kind of try to see what he does. And I want to take the most information I can. And, you know, just a day in the life. It's pretty simple.
Lonnie Preis 12:34
Love it. Love it. Just kind of hang and see what you know, kind of follow and see what he does. Yeah, yeah. Very good.
Courtney 12:39
I say that. Or, like, explore, kind of like, do, like, a like, go see stuff, and then you kind of just, like, make conversation with it. I don't know, I feel like it bring up different topics. So, like, you wouldn't talk about during, like, an everyday thing.
Lonnie Preis 12:51
Here's a follow up question, if you could explore anywhere with him, where would you go? And you could go anywhere in the world, Hollywood? Oh, just walk the streets of Hollywood. Yeah, nice. Love it. Kylie, what do you think
Kylie Walker 13:05
good good stuff. Good stuff that you're unique? Definitely, very unique. Some unique vessel actually had someone that said the exact same person and, like, they didn't like, plan it ahead or whatever, but they had just said the exact same person.
Lonnie Preis 13:20
Yeah, that's right. That's right. Okay,
Bryce 13:22
which I answer the question of where I explore? Yeah, probably three or four.
Lonnie Preis 13:29
Jeff, Jeff, come with me to 304. We're about to enter into the awesome I'm very intrigued myself. I might have to go
Speaker 1 13:36
visit ask him what the name of his assault group is actually.
Bryce 13:42
It's her fault group too. It's called the six seven wellness group. Six Seven
Lonnie Preis 13:47
at the Red Wings game. They, you know, they do the video, and there's tons of kids doing that. Yeah, okay, we won't go down that road. All right. On a little more personal level, who in your life could be passed away, could be alive, who has impacted you the most? Courtney, we'll start with you.
Courtney 14:05
I have like, two, like my travel coaches from, like, in the past for softball, and my parents, easily,
Lonnie Preis 14:11
awesome and what in what you'd have to go through all of them. But what's one example? What's one way that either of them have impacted you?
Courtney 14:19
I guess it's kind of the same. But like my trial coaches really shaped how I like behave, like on the field, like how I handle myself and like on the field, on the lanes, but like how I handle myself, how to act maturely, like how to handle failure. And my parents, it's like they just taught me how to be a good person, like the values in life.
Lonnie Preis 14:36
Awesome. Great. Thanks for sharing that.
Bryce 14:38
I would say pass up to my parents and my aunt Paula, she passed away. I call her keep, but
Lonnie Preis 14:44
keep, yeah, keep. Where's that? I love it. I love it.
Bryce 14:47
Apparently I was a baby. Just called her keep. And my parents, you know, they raised me to be who I am today. And they always just, you know, they're there for everything, every event, kind of the same thing. She explained about the coaches. She made sure. They made sure my, like, I was mature and controlled under all situations. Because when I was bowling or playing football, when I was little, I would crash out a lot and do some things I shouldn't, but they would control me. And then keep was always there for me, like my dad got sick a good amount of times when I was young. So she would always, you know, keep me in her house and stuff. And it was just she was always
Lonnie Preis 15:20
there for me. So that's cool, and that is an awesome name. Yeah, that's an awesome name. Well, in addition to the 1000s of people that are gonna watch us, of course, make sure millions. Yeah, millions. Now, by this time, tell, definitely tell these people, because they'd love to hear you, and obviously, I'm sure you'll talk to them about it. Okay, moving on to one of our favorite segments. This is called Rapid Fire. You ready for this? Totally, don't worry. Totally ready. All right? Totally right. Here we go. You are gonna you have got to go, like, I'm gonna throw your question and you're gonna respond quickly. Don't spend you. We don't have time to be thinking about, like, what's the right answer? First things that come to mind, you got it? We got about 10. We got about 10 things. We're gonna ask you. Here we go. Who'd like to start? Pound for it quick, rock paper scissors. Oh boy. First time ever on the podcast we got rock paper scissors. Bryce, you're starting off. Oh no, you won. Would you like to start? No, make. Courtney, start. You're gonna answer the same question. Here we go. Ready? Rapid fire. Courtney. Your biggest fear
Courtney 16:24
snakes. Bryce, death.
Lonnie Preis 16:28
Oh, good. Going back to you. We'll go back and forth. Your favorite way to spend a Sunday, 304 I think he's getting sponsored by the guys in 304 anyway, favorite way to spend a Sunday, relaxing, relaxing. Yeah, beautiful. What's your favorite outside of your teams? Your favorite Cleary team to watch in action? Okay? Bryce, hockey or soccer, they're both very fun. Watch awesome. Back to you, Bryce, one thing that you cannot live without
Courtney 17:04
sports, okay, my phone.
Lonnie Preis 17:08
Interesting lead into the next question, what is the favorite app your go to? What's the thing you hit the most on your
Courtney 17:14
phone? Tiktok, yeah. Also,
Lonnie Preis 17:18
Tiktok. Tiktok. Kylie. How about you? Brain loaded? Yeah. It extra tick tock. Okay, Twitter, Oh, mine, I don't even know. I'm just happy to get I'm just gonna look ESPN app. Maybe I don't. I just got mocked. I like all Here we go. Okay, good. Bryce, your spirit animal, lion roar. Dog, okay, what kind of dog? What's your favorite dog?
Courtney 17:52
My dog? It's a Puggle. Oh, mug and a beagle. Oh, together. Yeah, size. He's like, he's like, 40 pounds. He's a pie tall.
Speaker 1 18:01
Okay, does your dog? Because I need to meet your dog.
Courtney 18:05
Oh, no, he got sent back home. I was over him. He's like from the table, from the table.
Lonnie Preis 18:13
Name Max, Max. Interesting. You have a dog,
Bryce 18:18
I did, but it passed away. My dad don't want to go to pain anymore because they're like best friends, you know, what
Lonnie Preis 18:24
was it? What was the dog's name? Buster, Oh, I like that name. Sorry. We went off on the dog tangent. Kylie, your dog's names. I love to hear him.
Speaker 1 18:35
Aspen and Leo.
Lonnie Preis 18:37
Love it. Love it. I love when people say their dog's names. They kind of, you know, you can just, you can hear the the affection that they have for their dogs. I'm way off on a tangent, going back, going back to you. I think, do we say spirit animals? Yeah, your go to karaoke song. You got to sing a song,
Courtney 18:55
something by Miley Cyrus. What's, yeah, anything by Miley Cyrus, okay, she's got good ones, if you think about it. All right, sure, Bryce,
Bryce 19:04
either Tennessee whiskey or unwritten, Tennessee.
Lonnie Preis 19:11
Have you seen? Do you go to concerts? I do, yeah, Stapleton. Have you seen? I would love to see him.
Bryce 19:17
I've been to a lot of besides that.
Kylie Walker 19:19
Yeah, Bryce, would you sing a line from unwritten for us? Please? Yes. You got it. It's okay. I don't know if I could here. I'll start the beat for you. That's a
Bryce 19:33
good beat. Now you should do it.
Speaker 1 19:37
No, you got it. It's your karaoke song. There's certain
Bryce 19:40
times and places like maybe if you're in three or four,
Lonnie Preis 19:45
this is awkward. Okay, back to the back. This is the slow roll, rapid fire. Okay, here we go. A couple more. One word, set the microwave. Is the popcorn ready? Okay? One word, Bryce advice. One word. For freshmen, one word alarm.
Lonnie Preis 20:05
I literally was thinking alarm that is crazy. I kid you not
Courtney 20:08
fine with two words, but time management, okay,
Lonnie Preis 20:11
all right, I love it. This is weird, dialed in, all right, weirdest thing you have ever eaten or tried to eat,
Courtney 20:18
octopus. Oh,
Lonnie Preis 20:20
okay, Bryce snail, oh, like was it? Oh, yeah. Biggest pet peeve, Bryce
Bryce 20:38
dog, deep, one word, right? No, no, one word this whole time, okay, I would say like, taking things too deep when they're not taking too deep.
Speaker 1 20:54
Did you have already know what Courtney's is?
Lonnie Preis 20:56
Okay? People not showing is that for real? You're just making that up?
Courtney 21:02
No, I do really. I'll show up like, 30 minutes early to, like, least favorite thing is people like being late because then it's like, she but
Lonnie Preis 21:11
it's not, it's fine, it's not, you're not her least favorite person, it's just, like, something about
Courtney 21:15
everything you've been late to, like, all year. So, like, that's true.
Lonnie Preis 21:20
Yeah, here we go. Last question, last question, three words. Describe yourself in three words,
Courtney 21:30
Goofy, mature, accountable.
Lonnie Preis 21:35
It's an interesting combo of words, Goofy, mature. I like it.
Bryce 21:39
Bryce, funny, outgoing, honest,
Lonnie Preis 21:45
love it very good. Thank you guys. All right, that was rapid fire. All right, we are down to our last All right, this is now. You're both competitive, you're both competitive. I like it. You both want to you both want to win at anything you do. So of course, we're gonna have a little game here to wrap things up. This is called Showtime. Show us what you know. Don't be looking at my paper. Okay, you we're gonna go back and forth with states of the United States of America. We're gonna start with with Courtney, then we're gonna go back to Bryce. And here's the deal. You have three seconds to think of a new state if, and I'll just start counting to put more pressure on you if you if you pause, once you get three seconds, I'll say game over. The other person wins. Or if you repeat something that's already been said, Kylie, help me out if we for catch repetition, because I have a feeling these two might go through all 50 states. This might have been done before. We're not sure. We're not sure, but remember, we're talking states, not cities. Bryce is thinking hard. He wants to be ready with a couple in the hopper. Courtney, it's his
Speaker 1 22:50
concentration phase.
Lonnie Preis 22:52
Welcome to showtime. Courtney, begin Michigan,
Bryce 22:57
New York, California, Florida, Texas, Germany.
Lonnie Preis 23:03
Okay, the game has been over. Courtney, is aware. It's right, Germany. Bryce, it's okay. You went quick if you're gonna mess up, mess up quick and go, go hard, go home. Commit to it. You committed to it. You committed to it for a minute there? I'm like, Wait, is Germany a state in Europe there? It's a country, country, it's a country. But hey, you know no one, from what I recall, nobody has went down swinging like he just went down swinging. There's been a big pause,
Speaker 1 23:39
head first dive, everything
Lonnie Preis 23:41
that was commitment, head first Germany. That is going to be a trivia question on a future podcast. Who was the guest, or when a guest? We had a guest answer a state to be to a certain country. Well, we'll figure it out. Okay. Speaking of trivia, our sponsor, Jimmy John's, we've got gift cards for you. Not sure if they're a sponsor, but we're giving on to Jimmy. Jimmy John's gift card.
